International Plans and Projects 2024/25
Over the next year we have some new projects to look forward to.
We are planning some year 3 and 5 links with classes from Szkoła Podstawowa nr 77 in Gdansk, where we will be sharing our interests, likes and hobbies.
In year 4, 5 and 6 we will be sharing Heritage Boxes and learning about how shared heritage can be an important part of who we are. We will also be learning about the Swedish concept of Lagom - and how we can live more sustainably, without as much waste and excess. This will culminate in a visit to Tärnsjö in Sweden in the Summer Term.
We are also in the early days of planning a Dance and Music project with one of our partner schools in Spain... Watch this space!
Within our own school and our own community, we will continue with projects that honour and cherish our own diverse heritage. We have pans for family Heritage boxes, food festivals and our annual Mother Tongue celebrations. Its is looking like an exciting year ahead!
Parkgate and Gdansk School Faraway Friends Project
Year 3 Owl and Year 5 Parrot have started a project with a school in Gdansk - Poland.
We have started by introducing ourselves in a penpal project where we used Canva, slides and Chatterpix to share a little about ourselves. We have also just sent some Christmas cards and baubles. Next step - letter writing!!
Our culture in a box shared with Tarnsjo Skola
We have recently received a very exciting delivery from Tarnsjo Skola in Sweden.
It was filled with all sorts of exciting objects that we could explore to find out more about Swedish culture.
There were books (like Pippi Longstockings) and music, books, flags and postcards of interesting places.
If you look closely at the photos, you can see some other objects - such as animals and tools that are important to Swedish Heritage.
There were also a lot of really interesting sweets - some were sweet AND salty!
If you would like a closer look pop in and these will be displayed in the foyer of the school.
Our box went off to Sweden last week - what would you have put in a Heritage box?
