International School Award - Intermediate level, developing internationalism
During the summer term 2018, at the Parkgate Junior School we have not only celebrated the OUTSTANDING OFSTED report but in late August we were also granted the ISA( International School Award) intermediate level by the BRITISH COUNCIL . This prestigious award recognises and celebrates the achievements of schools that do exceptional work in international education. Fostering an international dimension in the curriculum is at the heart of the British Council’s work with schools, so that young people gain the cultural understanding and skills they need in today’s world.
An independent group of assessors evaluated the activities that took place in our school during last year: the Cross Curricular Week work with the Whole World in our School, including the PASSPORT DAY, PARENTS DIVERSITY DAY and the INTERNATIONAL FOOD FESTIVAL; the eTwinning project with the school ICS "Pestalozzi-Carvour" from Palermo in Italy, where children from year 4 exchanged Christmas cards written in Spanish; The visit of PE teachers from Primary schools partners in the area of Bages, near Barcelona( Catalonia/Spain) where the Year 5's learnt about the school sport "Colpbol"; the Mother Tongue Day and the "Camino a la Escuela" work in Year 5.
The feedback praises the whole community involvement in the school, as well as the variety of activities, encouraging us to apply for the full accreditation this year.
Thank you to all the staff for their hard work, children for their enthusiasm, Governors for their unconditional support and parents for their participation and help in many school events.
