Fortnightly Maths Challenge
Fri 31 Jan 2020This fortnight's challenge is all about fractions. You may even get to enjoy a treat too! Create your own investigation a packet of smarties (or any other coloured treat). Remember, work will be displayed on the maths wall in the reception area and one lucky pupil will get a certificate and prize. Please send your work in by Thursday 13th February. You can find the copy of the worksheet in “Our children” section of our website but it would be great if you could design your own. Good luck. -
Peer Mediator Training
Fri 31 Jan 2020Congratulations to all the children who have successfully completed the Peer Mediator Training this week. The children really enjoyed learning how to resolve disputes between two or more peers in private, safe and confidential setting.

Cross Curricular Week (STEM)
Fri 24 Jan 2020Wow - what an amazing Cross Curricular week!
This year's theme for Cross Curricular week was based around STEM
(science, technology, engineering and maths).
There was a real buzz of excitement around the school all week.
We had a great variety of workshops including planetarium, forensic science and a special workshop on how to extract DNA.
Thank you very much to all the parents that helped to make this week exciting and fun for the children.

Holy Rood V Parkgate - Match Report
Fri 24 Jan 2020On Wednesday, Parkgate football team played a game against Holy Rood School. It was a tough and exciting match. We equalised and then took the lead minutes before the end of the match. Unfortunately the final score was 5- 4 to Holy Rood. Great goal keeping and attacking skills demonstrated and fun had by all. -
Harry Potter Book Night at North Watford Library
Fri 24 Jan 2020Harry Potter Book Night is on Thursday 6 February 2020 at 4.00 - 6.00pm at North Watford Library. See what the house elves have planned - including invisible ink, sorting hat quiz, character bookmarks and more Harry Potter fun. Fancy dress is optional. Some activities need to be pre booked to guarantee your place at Hogwarts. As North Watford Library is closed until 31st January inclusive, please speak to Watford Central Library Staff for further details. This event is free but donations will be accepted on the day. -
Year 6 Roman Workshop
Fri 17 Jan 2020As part of Year 6's Roman topic this term, the children took part in all day Roman Workshop, conducted by a company called "Portals to the Past". They used the original artefacts and role play to teach the children about life in Roman times. The children had a great time and they looked fantastic in their Roman costumes. -
Netball Tournament @ Francis Combe
Fri 17 Jan 2020On Tuesday Parkgate Netball Team took part in our local partnership
tournament at Francis Combe School. Despite the horrible weather it
still took place inside. Our netball team won some matches and lost some matches and although we did not make it to the final - great
fun was had by all who took part. -
Year 4 Indoor Athletics @ Francis Combe
Fri 17 Jan 2020Year 4 had a fantastic afternoon yesterday when they went to Francis Combe for an athletics tournament competing against Beechfield and Alban Wood. The children were placed into mini teams and were given an event to take part in. The children worked really well as a team and were supportive of each other. It was a great afternoon and the children really enjoyed themselves. -
Fortnightly Maths Challenge!
Fri 10 Jan 2020Marvellous measure maths activity
Forget treasure hunts - go on a measure hunt instead! Explore the different lengths of everyday things you see at home. You'll need a tape measure for this activity. Design a poster to show the objects and their lengths. You could convert the measurements. Your work may be chosen for the reception area display board and one person will receive the marvellous maths certificate and prize. You can find the copies of the worksheets in “Our children” section of our website.
