Students’ Achievements outside of school
Sat 28 May 2022We were so proud of our Parkgate
children last weekend when a group
of them competed in the Watford & District Schools swimming gala at Woodside. Most of our students had never been to a gala before and were extremely nervous and were racing against lots of very good swimmers. There were only medals for children who placed top 3 which was very difficult as there were so many swimmers but Eddie got bronze for his 50m breaststroke!
Also some of our students were taking part in a show at the Radlett theatre recently. They spent all weekend there and then put on 2 wonderful shows for everyone. Quincy, Ashley, Evangeline and Cleo were all spectacular. -
Stockholm or bust!
Thu 26 May 2022Well sadly, we are at the airport and waiting for the hate to open. Stockholm is amazing. We have walked a LOT further than our long hike day. So far 13km. We explored the old town and the town hall and even saw the changing of the guard at the Royal Palace. The highlight of the day was Max! What an incredible city.
The next update will be as we board the plane to come home xx -

Wednesday afternoon
Wed 25 May 2022I write this en route to Stockholm! We are so excited to see the city and to have en suite bathrooms!
We started off our day with a music concert performed by the children from Tarnsjo school which was brilliant, followed by Lunch at school. We then visited a dairy farm And met Pippi, Hanna, Bluma and Dora the cows. The farm was impressive. We got to see the milking robot and had more Fika. Yesterday the teenage cows escaped so they were in a bit of trouble today!
After our final assembly it was time to pack and say goodbye to our fabulous hosts. They have been so welcoming and we will miss them. Hopefully we can return the hospitality when they visit in October.
Farewell to Tarnsjo for the time being - next stop Stockholm! -
Wednesday morning
Wed 25 May 2022A good night's sleep last night- everyone was shocked by the wake up call at 6:30. We had another huge breakfast with tea and lots of hot chocolate (no man-eating cereal Betsy) and set off for school at 8. We are heading off to a music concert in Östervåla before visiting a local dairy farm. Will update you later. Missing you all xx

Tuesday night
Tue 24 May 2022What a day. We are about to settle down for the night and we are absolutely shattered. After our 9km walk and a visit to the nature reserve park (see Betsy and Neve's Titanic and Preslav, Rachel and Molly enjoying the trail) we returned to school for a BBQ. We had the chance to see the 1880 school.first where Stephan impressed with his historical knowledge.
Rachel, Neve, Betsy Miss Ryan impressed with their 'Jerusalema' dancing, joining on with the children from Verdruna and Tarnjo and Taisei and Patrick played football for nearly 2 hours. We were joined by families from the village for hot dogs. The families had set up traditional games like Kubb and shared their Viking heritage. Mrs Croxford discovered her Viking spirit.
A huge thank you to Maria and Mr Quintana for all their efforts today and to Mrs Paterson for the endless tea and tunes.
Tomorrow we are visiting a local farm - and Östervåla. Night night.

Tue 24 May 2022Are we there yet? No, Not yet donkey!
25 633 steps on Ilmi's Fitbit, and it's only 1:30. Once again our children have made us very, very proud. No moaning at all and we've walked over 10km.
It was absolutely beautiful, with a stop for a BBQ. (Where Patrick and Preslav at 4 burgers and Taisei ate 5!)..
Molly and Beatrice powered through with impressive effort! Brilliant morning. -
