It's Summer Reading Challenge time again! Although libraries across Hertfordshire are currently closed, you can still take part in the Challenge this year.
We are encouraging you to join the Silly Squad and celebrate books that make us and !
This year's Summer Reading Challenge has been re-designed into a virtual one. Now more than ever, it is important to keep reading over the summer months. And it's such fab FUN!
To use free ebooks / audiobooks, you can use Herts Libraries digital services - click here for more information and to join online for free, or you can use other digital providers. You can also still read books from home.

Why not have a go at making some silly faces? You can make some fun characters that could be inspired by the funny books you are reading for the Silly Squad Summer Reading Challenge.
You need some toilet roll holders which you can draw funny faces on like the examples above. Use felt pens, paints or a marker pen if available. Using some recycling cardboard you can cut out hair or horns and with some glue stick them inside the top of the roll. Cut eyes out of white paper, stick them on and draw black circles on them. Draw ears on cardboard, cut them out and then cut slits in the sides of the roll and poke them through.
Once you've finished, why not take a photo of you and your creation and email it to email@example.com so we can display it here for all to see! You have all summer and can send us pictures of as many creations as you want! A prize will be given next term for the loopiest, silly creation. Have fun!
The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays. You can sign up at your local library, then read six books of your choice to complete the challenge. There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way and it's FREE to take part!
The Summer Reading Challenge website helps you keep track of your reading all year round: find new books to read, take part in competitions, play mini games, find out which books your favourite celebrities recommend.

Every summer term the fabulous library staff from North Watford Library visit us to tell us all about the Challenge. Sadly, with libraries being currently closed we won't see them this year but will be delighted to have them back next year.
Also, every September we celebrate those children who have completed the Summer Reading Challenge in a special assembly. As well as the certificate they receive from Herts Libraries, they also receive a certificate and reward from us for completing the Challenge.
