Read Around the World Challenge (ended)
Our whole school reading challenge has now finished. A wide range of countries and continents were travelled and different genres read - and a good number of passports stamped!
Congratulations to Emman, our most widely travelled/ read participant, who read an amazing 27 books! Our runner-up was Hijab - well done to you too!
How we did it
* Every time we read a book set on a continent, or in a country (or countries), we chatted briefly to Mrs Parr about it and received a stamp in our reading passport.
* The more we read, the more passports we filled and certificates we received.
* We could colour in our map every time we 'visited' a continent.
* The most widely 'travelled'/read pupil received a top prize at the end of the challenge! But everyone received certificates and stickers for taking part throughout.
We offered some reading suggestions
We created a reading list of suggested titles for inspiration. All the titles listed are in our school library. Reading lists could be found in each classroom and in the library and could also be downloaded - link is below.
We could also read our own books from home or from the public library; these could be printed books, e-books or audio (talking) books, or a mixture!
Our scratch map!
Every time a book was read that was located in a particular country/continent, we scratched it off our map (next to the fish tank). We'll add a photo shortly of how our map looked in the end.
Note: our passport was based on a design kindly shared by by Abi Lown (St Laurence School) and the map was from the Book Girls Guide website.
