Today we will be weaving our way through mathematics.
Paper weaving is a fun and creative way to explore real mathematical ideas. Simple “mat” weaving offers a way to experience basic concepts in geometry and number.
Have a go at this for today’s task.
With some coloured construction paper (or similar sized pictures cut out of an old newspaper or magazine will do) cut them into long, thin strips and use some glue or tape to fix it together at the start. Now get weaving right away!
Follow the instructions on the PowerPoint below.
Writing
1) Write a poem in the style of ‘A Sea Creature Ate My Teacher’ using the creature that you created on Wednesday. Try to rhyme the last word of alternate lines.
- Your poem should tell the story of your teacher being eaten by the creature that you created. You might want to change the ending to be different from the original poem.
- You should try to include as many adjectives as you can from Wednesday and try to use the sentences you created yesterday that include adverbs.
Reading
1) Create a reading den using pillows and blankets.
Find somewhere cosy, snuggle up and read your favourite book.
