Year 6 Activity week
This week the Year 6s at school have had a fantastic week full of activities and a trip or two.
On Monday we had a computing day. We got out all the robots in the school and explored what they could do all morning. In the afternoon we tried completing some Micro:bit coding challenges too.
We went on a trip to St Albans on Tuesday. We got on the train from the North Watford and took it to the end of the line at St Albans Abbey. While we were in St Albans, we walked around the park and went in the play area before lunch. After lunch we went to the Cathedral where a resident expert on the story of St Albans spoke to us and then set us off on a trail around the Cathedral to find out more about the historic building.
We joined the rest of the school for Art day on Wednesday. We made Bug Hotels out of recycled materials and natural resources in the morning and design our own T-Shirts or Pillowcases in the afternoon.
It was a very sporty day for us on Thursday. Mr Derick helped us design and plan our own activities and games in the morning. In the afternoon we taught the Year 3s how to play each of our games and lead the activities in our groups. It was great fun!
On Friday we started the day by finishing off things we had started during the week before walking down to Knutsford Playing Fields and the River Colne. Here we explored the wildlife found in the river and found many small shrimp-like creatures among others. We also picked up an astonishing amount of litter on a litter pick around the fields. In the afternoon we had a wonderful time in the sun playing water activities and getting rather wet.
