Letter from the Chair of Governors
Fri 21 Oct 2022It seems hard to believe that we’ve already reached half term. It has been a great start to the new academic year and hopefully it will be one without any more Covid restrictions! The Parkgate family continues to thrive. Mrs Pipe and all the Parkgate staff have been working extremely hard to enhance the curriculum and ensure that it is broad, rich and joined-up, as well as offering a supportive environment in which the pupils can thrive. You may have seen and experienced some of this at the parents’ evenings this week or at the open mornings earlier in the term, or maybe you had the opportunity to meet the visitors from Spain and Sweden who spent time at the school as part of the exciting Erasmus Plus project. We encourage you to stay connected and take advantage of other opportunities throughout the year to see for yourself what makes Parkgate Junior School such a special place. We hope that everyone has a good half term break, and we look forward seeing what the rest of the term brings.
Julie Rolls Harper, Parkgate Junior School Governing Board

International School Award 2022-2025
Fri 07 Oct 2022Parkgate Junior School has been re-accredited with the International School Award for 2022-2025.
Staff have worked hard over the last few years to provide opportunities for their school community to take part in international events and activities both in and out of school and in collaboration with schools in Sweden and Spain.
In the last year alone, events and activities including the Parkgate International Food Festival, Castanyada celebrations (an Autumn Festival in Spain), greetings card exchanges with international pupils, trips for staff and pupils to visit Sweden and Spain, international assemblies via video call and a Bollywood dance workshop have taken place and have been much loved by our school community.
With the re-accreditation of the award, Parkgate hopes to continue planning opportunities such as these in the future. Their next big event will be in October 2022, when pupils from Sweden and Spain are set to visit Watford to meet pupils from the school and participate in class activities as well as exploring the local area and visiting London.

On Wednesday, some Year 6 students went to Phasels Wood and did many activities including team work games. Finally, on Thursday we went to Harry Potter Studies.
