Meet one of the Parkgate Junior School Governors: Dipesh Patel
Thu 29 Feb 2024I was born in South London in a hospital which is now a Tesco’s in Clapham. I lived in South London for 32 years before moving to Watford. Moving outside London was a mammoth task for me as I only knew South London as home.
Most of you all know Kirtan in 6E and Upasana aka Upi in 3 Owl and I have another daughter Roshni who will join the Parkgate Family in the Infants nursery in September.
I’m a keen sports person. I enjoy watching Formula 1 and have met quite a few world champions like Sir Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel. Then my passion for life Football. Manchester United runs through my veins. Any chance of watching a game I’m on it, whether it be on TV, online or even in person. The kids will tell you what I’m like when I’m watching a game or race lol.
A few things about me. I’ve been to Wimbledon tennis championships as a ball boy back in 1999 and 2000, I’ve been on TV on a show called The Bill and even done many news Interviews back in 1998 - 2003.
I also know and have met various celebrities and members of the Royal Family. I have many stories I would love to tell you but I can’t share them with anyone unfortunately lol.
As your school governor I’ve been working with Mr Last and Mrs Pipe to help where I can with the technology in the school, as for work I am the IT whizz person for the Bank of England. Yes I said it. It’s where we keep all the gold for the country.
One of the things you might have noticed recently on your chrome books is the wireless. It is actually working all around the school which has meant you guys as students can maximise its use and now we can move steadily forward in use of technology around the school.
Whenever you see me in school don’t be embarrassed to say hi to me. I’m not as crazy as my kids say I am 😂.

February Maths Challenge
Fri 02 Feb 2024This month’s challenge involves cooking!
You could bake a cake, make some biscuits or follow a recipe to help make dinner for the family. You will be practicing your maths skills through measuring weight and volume.
You may want to practice your doubling skills by making a larger batch than the recipe states.
Write out your recipe and take photos of you measuring out the ingredients as well as the finished food. Please don't bring food in, a picture poster and recipe would be great for the display board. This challenge includes half term, so lots of opportunities to do some baking and cooking. Please bring your posters in by Thursday 29th February.
Have fun!
