Year 5 Trip to St Peter's Church
Fri 26 May 2023Yesterday, Year 5 went on a sunny walk down Bushey Mill Lane to visit St Peter's church. We were interviewing the Vicar there, Rev. Vanessa Kerswill about her role as a church leader. We asked her lots of questions, like "What are the best and worst parts about being a Vicar? Why did you want to become a Vicar?"
Vanessa kindly let us explore the church buildings, and we learned about the different parts of a church. Vanessa even performed a pretend christening with a doll!
Thank you very much especially to the Teaching Assistants and parent helpers who accompanied us. We will be interviewing a Jewish Rabbi after half term.

Artes Day 5
Fri 26 May 2023Good morning from sunny Barcelona. It's going to be a warm one today. Yesterday evening we started to explore this incredible city. We started with a walking tour of the modernist architecture and ended up in a wonderful restaurant. The children continue to make us very proud, trying new foods, asking inciteful questions and being generally good fun. Today we explore the city a bit more and we can't wait.

Artes 2023 Day 4
Thu 25 May 2023The rain has once again descended, but this time we managed to stay dry. Sadly, we have had our last day at Artes, Verdruna. Hijab impressed the school with her mathematical skills (and her ability to learn playground games) and we had a tour of the local wine cellars. (Where some of the boys worked out how many bottles of Cava were in an array - 21961 , I believe). The rain may have changed all the plans for the day and yet we have once again been incredibly busy. We are now on our way to Barcelona with bags full of tie-dyed t-shirts, chocolate and pastries. We are all very tired and missing you but having a fabulous time.

Day 3 part 3
Thu 25 May 2023Did you know... You can have bread and cheese 5 times a day? We have eaten SO much today!
The weather has been very dramatic and so we had dinner at school tonight, followed by singing and dancing - teaching each other some brilliant songs and dances. At about 8 we headed back to the house and decided to brave the pool, it was freezing! Kirtan and Noah kept us entertained with their dancing and distracted us from the temperature.
The hot chocolate was very welcome (Jacob is convinced that hot chocolate is a Catalan invention). Bags packed and showered, it was a slightly earlier bedtime.... But not much.
Today we are having normal lessons and then... Barcelona, here we come! -
Day 3 part 2
Wed 24 May 2023What a great day we've had. The children from Artes have been fantastic hosts; taking us on a treasure hunt around the town to see the market, the church and town square as well as entertaining us with fun games at each stop. Lunch of meat and vegetable soup - followed by yummy pastry snacks. We spent the afternoon sharing both homemade gifts and presenting work to each other about what we have been doing over the last year in school. We are now having yet another snack and watching the building thunder clouds. Hopefully we can stay dry till dinner!

Artes 2023 - Day 2
Tue 23 May 2023Mrs Croxford had to wake everyone up this morning! It was a surprisingly quiet night. (but after such a late night - and long day- we all needed some sleep). Breakfast gobbled down, we headed off to school. This morning we joined in with sports day. We played basketball, hockey, badminton and a Catalan game called Matar Conillis-'kill the rabbits'. We are having play time now after our lunch of lentils, salad and cod croquettes.
